Franchising Brasil trade mission to Costa Rica and Panama projects more than US$ 1.5 million in new business for the franchise delegation
A delegation of six Brazilian networks carried out an agenda of market intelligence, business meetings and benchmarking in two of Central America’s main growth hubs
Held from 20 to 24 July, the Costa Rica and Panama Business Mission 2026, organized by Franchising Brasil — a partnership between the Brazilian Franchising Association (ABF) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), focused on the internationalization of Brazilian franchise companies — resulted in expected new business of US$ 1,570,000.00 for the delegation of Brazilian brands that took part in the international initiative.
The mission was attended by the Brazilian franchise networks Boali, Corpo Bueno, Dudalina, Espaço Laser, Global Franchising and John John. The programme was designed to promote internationalization through market intelligence, strategic connections, business prospecting and benchmarking in Central America’s main hubs.
On 20 and 21 July, activities were concentrated in Panama. With the institutional support of the Embassy of Brazil in Panama, the Ibero-American Franchise Federation (FIAF) and Panacamara, the delegation attended the soft landing seminar.
The event covered the economic landscape, the business environment and the legal aspects of setting up operations, with presentations by the law firms MDU Legal and Guinard & Noriega, as well as market cases from Grupo David and local franchisors. Business meetings were also held with investors and commercial operators. The agenda in the country also included benchmarking visits to Altaplaza Mall, to the operation of the food franchise La Michoacana and to Grupo Roble | Multiplaza.
On 23 and 24 July, the delegation travelled to San José, Costa Rica, a country that is establishing itself as the new strategic hub for Central America and the Caribbean. The Costa Rican leg was held in partnership with the Embassy of Brazil in Costa Rica, FIAF, the Costa Rica Chamber of Commerce and the Centro Nacional de Franquicias (Costa Rica Franchise Association).
The delegation attended another soft landing seminar, focused on legislation and market intelligence, followed by targeted business meetings with local investors. Technical visits included Procomer (the foreign trade and investment promotion agency), Grupo Roble | Multiplaza, AR Holdings (the country’s largest operator of international franchises) and the traditional Musmanni chain.
“The mission to Costa Rica and Panama was a strategic milestone in strengthening the presence of Brazilian franchising in Central America. The rich programme of seminars, business meetings and institutional visits to major local operators provided valuable insight into the region’s business environment. The projection of more than US$ 1.5 million in new business reflects the enormous potential and maturity of Brazilian networks on the international stage,” said Andrea Ferrari, executive manager of Franchising Brasil and International Projects manager at ABF.
Beyond the direct commercial impact, the initiative achieved its institutional goals by strengthening ABF’s ties with embassies, franchise associations and local business organizations, consolidating the programme’s role as the main driver of the internationalization of Brazilian franchising.
